1991

John meets Sandra in 11th grade at New Britain High School. Sandra tells John that he can earn much more money telemearketing than working at TCBY in Cromwell. He starts telemarketing for a window and siding company in Newington and never looked back.

1993

John marries Sandra, his high school sweetheart and needing to earn more for his new family, he begins selling in the home though he only looks like he’s 14 years old!

1994

At only 20 years old with a new wife, a mortgage, and a newborn baby, John tries his hand at owning his own home improvement company, while working full time at a furniture store to make ends meet.

1997

Realizing that John took on a little more than he can handle, he closes the business and begins selling home improvements again for other companies.

2000

After working for several home improvement companies, John gets a call from his boss that one of his customers was not paying the final bill after the job was completed. After visiting the job John quickly learns why. The installation was a nightmare. John was embarrassed and resented being sent to pick up a check for a job that didn’t deserve payment.

John tells Sandra that he never wants to be put in that position again and after learning valuable lessons over the previous few years, he thinks he can do better and wants to give owning a home improvement company another try. 

2008

US economy takes a massive hit. The home remodeling industry is one of the first major sectors to become affected. CareFree sees almost half of its business disappear overnight, and their workforce is cut in half.

2014 

They emerge from the recession and launch a new division Bath Solutions & One Day Bath remodels. Thanks to excellent customer referrals and earning an outstanding reputation in the greater Connecticut area, business is up 30% from 2013.

2015

As their customer base grew, they were able to really perfect their installation practices, and saw business increase 34% from 2014. CareFree Home Pros earns a Most Growth Award in the country (96% Growth in bath business from previous year) from BathWraps, bathroom manufacturer.

2016

Business increases 83% from 2015 and CareFree is a TOP 12 Bathwraps Dealer in the country!

2018

CareFree continues to grow and opens its second showroom in Avon and earns a spot in Qualified Remodelers Top 500 Remodelers in the Country.

2020

CareFree Home Pros celebrates 20 years of serving the community and thousands of happy customers throughout CT & Western MA. Not only did John & Sandra build a great business with a great Team but they have also raised great kids. John an Army Vet who served our Country overseas, graduated college and is in the medical field. Alex graduated college and is the second generation of family working in the business.
